Directly adjacent to the site of the 2023 Federal Horticultural Show in Mannheim, two residential buildings with a total of 54 apartments and communal areas as well as landscaped outdoor areas were constructed according to the design by AWG Architekten. The target group is people aged 55+ who are looking for a residential community with a focus on quality time and communal activities.
The spacious and inviting ground floor houses a publicly accessible restaurant and offers a special quality of living that radiates outwards. Services and opportunities for communal living are bundled here and organized from a central information point. Outside, the property is complemented by a spacious, lively courtyard.
Within the building, communal areas are always centrally distributed across all levels. This means that even the path to the apartment becomes part of the home. The foyer, courtyard, and restaurant offer additional living space in and around the neighborhood. There are also project rooms, music rooms, a fireplace room, a fitness room, a workshop, guest rooms, a bicycle garage, and roof terraces for all residents. This creates communication zones that invite people to linger and meet, and where community can be actively lived.
