The town of Pfungstadt wants to upgrade the popular barbecue hut on a plot of land west of the town. As part of a feasibility study, fs|architekten first compared the renovation of the barbecue hut with a new building. It became apparent that renovating the barbecue hut would not make sense either structurally or economically.
The planned use includes a weather-protected event room with a serving counter, a small kitchen, toilet facilities, and adjoining rooms for storage and technical equipment. The interior can be opened up to the outdoor barbecue area and fire pit using sliding elements.
The simple rectangular structure with a rafter roof is planned as a timber construction and opens up at the front to a spacious covered veranda that can also be used in unfavorable weather conditions. Generous glass surfaces ensure good lighting in the interior.
The outdoor areas will be redesigned and planted, and the existing trees will be integrated into the outdoor facility concept.
